Across The Majestic, we are continually reviewing how we can reduce our consumption of energy and resources.
As we refurbish and invest in the hotel, sustainability and energy efficiency form part of our decision-making process. We are gradually replacing older equipment and lighting with more energy-efficient alternatives and encouraging responsible energy use throughout all departments.
We are also working to reduce unnecessary paper use, improve waste segregation and recycling, and reduce our reliance on single-use products.
Where furniture, equipment and other hotel items are being replaced, we aim to reuse, repurpose or donate them wherever practical rather than simply disposing of them.
Bedrooms & Housekeeping
Our housekeeping team plays an important part in reducing the environmental impact of every guest stay.
We continually review the cleaning products, guest amenities and materials used throughout our bedrooms and are working towards reducing unnecessary packaging and single-use plastics.
Guests can also help us conserve water and energy during their stay through simple choices such as reusing towels where possible and switching off lights and electrical items when leaving their bedroom.
Food & Beverage
Reducing food waste and supporting local suppliers are important parts of our sustainability journey.
Our kitchen team carefully manages purchasing, preparation and stock levels to minimise unnecessary food waste across our restaurants, bars, weddings and events.
Where possible, we choose Irish and local suppliers and producers, supporting businesses within Waterford and the wider South East while reducing the distance our food and supplies need to travel.
We also recognise the growing importance of offering choice and continue to develop our vegetarian and plant-based options across our menus.
Our Team
Our sustainability journey involves every member of The Majestic team.
We encourage our team to consider sustainability in their everyday roles – whether that’s reducing food waste in our kitchens, conserving energy, correctly separating waste, reducing unnecessary printing or simply identifying a better way of doing something.
Some of the best changes come from the people working in our hotel every day, and we encourage our team to share ideas about how we can continue to improve.
